An Overdecorated Christmas and Update

As I write this it is only 3.5 hours until it is officially Christmas, and I couldn't be more excited! I have a lot of news to write about here but I thought I'd show my Christmas decorations at home first, and perhaps as the title says, it is an overdecorated Christmas we have in the Vivian household. I secondly would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and thirdly let everyone know I plan to be a proper and regular (perhaps weekly or fortnightly) blogger this coming year, rather than just posting a great deal one month and then hearing nothing from me for weeks! I will be having some vintage adventures in Chichester, where I'm attending University, and further-a-field as well as doing some charity shop styling. However I don't want my content to be lacking as it previously has been - sometimes I posted for the sake of posting, rather than because I had something interesting to say.

Chichester has been great this semester and I'm doing pretty well in my studies (Theology and English Literature), and really enjoying the course! Chichester has some lovely vintage shops and recently I went to a vintage market and bought some vintage dungarees as well as a shirt for a pretty decent price. My favourite (though it is rather expensive) vintage shop in Chi (as the students call it) is called the One Legged Jockey, and I found some great pieces there. The charity shops are more expensive than Guernsey ones, however they have some awesome pieces - a pair of sparkly Betty Barclay jeans and a Topshop oversized shirt.

I came home on the 13th December with my boyfriend, Alex, who I've been with for a year and four months and it's great to be home, but I do miss the independence of being at University. I actually did a Uni Room Tour on my Youtube Channel which you can view here and a vlog or two. I should be doing a few more vlogs in the New Year in Chi but I left my camera at Uni, so none for now (these photos are taken on my Dad's Nikon D7000)

Christmas is a great family time and we now have a new member of the family featured at the end of this post...

My sister and I decorated the Christmas tree - our idea of decorating is more like throwing armfuls of tinsel at the tree and adorning it with every bauble in the house! But I love our overdecorated Christmas tree!

I love our Grandfather clock in our dining room, it's an antique we bought from a neighbour when they were clearing out their house. It doesn't work, but it's still absolutely beautiful.

My mother looks slightly sinister in this picture, but she's lovely really, and very busy cooking for the big day tomorrow!

This is Ruby, the Vivian's little black and white Shih Tzu puppy, she's lovely but very mischievious and loves to steal Christmas presents from under the tree and chew shoelaces.

In other news, I now have a septum piercing and brown hair! Who'd have thought it?? Alex is not too pleased with the piercing but I think he's pretty pleased with the natural hair colour. I'll be doing my New Year's round up for my next post so look forward to that.

Also I have a new name for my blog for the New Year - Fashion Museum, as my style is mostly vintage and my general style is from the past, as Alex would say! I'm still working on the look of the blog, but I hope you will like the finished look. I'm thinking white and grey... Anyway!

I hope you have a wondeful, happy and peaceful Christmas! God bless!

So... I do YOUTUBE now!

Good evening guys and gals!

I'm very sorry for my absence, and my blog is often in the midst of life, but I am doing some videos on Youtube now (soon to get a new camera for my birthday I hope) and I hope you can watch and enjoy.

It's a channel about fashion mainly and whatever takes my fancy, and I hope to be doing a thrift (or charity shop) haul very soon, and possibly a video on preparing for university.

UPDATE

So I got my A Level results (ABC - gotta love the alphabet) and will be going to my Uni of choice (Chichester) in September!! I'm so excited and at this present time am attempting to read Great Expectations (Charles Dickens), Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte) and Goblin Market (Christina Rossetti) before I go on the 19th. Wish me luck! I'm a fairly average reader but I am really enjoying Great Expectations.
I also bought a book called The Phantom Lobster (which made me giggle) and I hope to read that soon, as well as some lit theory books and a few of George Orwell's essays.

Anyway, enjoy the videos and I hope to post again soon.

Thanks for reading/watching,

Louise <3

Sunday Photo #2 - Jaeger

Happy Sunday everyone! I do love a good Sunday. I've been at church and for today's photo I have a photo I found on my dad's SD card from ages ago. Also I'm very sorry for the lack of blog posts this week, school is getting  hectic and I'm exhausted! Honestly, my life is so dull, it's school and sleep. I seriously need to get a more interesting life so I have more stuff to blog about... But I do have an exciting project in church coming up, as we're doing a local mission project hopefully in the hospital. I'm really excited!! It should be excellent. Anyway, here's the photo~

It's vintage-Jaeger-shirt-time!

Yep, that's Sunday's post done, and I get back to all the important stuff I have to do...

SLEEP!

Take care,

Introducing: Fleur the gecko

Morning all! Happy Thursday, and today I will be writing about my newest pet (and my favourite, though I know we shouldn't have favourites - okay, my favourite reptile, is that better?): Fleur!

Fleur is a leopard gecko, 7 years old and once belonged to my boyfriend (he had 2 geckos and Fleurie was bullying the other, April, so they had to be separated). She is the only gecko (her species, not her specifically) not to have sticky pads on her feet and to actually have eyelids, and she eats live crickets which I feed to her (carefully, as I find them disgusting) with a pair of tongs.

They're fairly easy to keep and if you'd like a post on how to keep geckos and vivariums and so on, please comment below. She's awfully cute, isn't she?

Do you have any pets? Would you keep a gecko?

Thanks for reading <3

Sunday Photo #1 - Legend

Happy Sunday everyone! So I'm just going about my Sunday life - church and a roast. Oh, how I love sundays! I do enjoy a good roast chicken (which I had today) and shortly I will be baking cookies and going back to church for the evening service. Woo! So just a quick post for today, I've decided to do a photo of something or other every Sunday. So here's today's photo~

Dress and jumper are from Topshop and there are the infamous silver Vans!

Have a happy Sunday!

Street Style Fashspiration January '14

Good day everyone! I hope you're all well, I'm very well thank you. I've really been enjoying Tumblr recently and here is a selection of my favourite images found on my dash. I've  really been wondering what to do with my hair recently - it's greenish but also kinda blonde so I've been thinking maybe I'd tone it with blonde or something, or dye it a pastel colour (though I'd like to avoid dyeing it, since it's pretty wrecked...)

The pink coat trend has also caught my eye recently and I love the pink boyfriend style coat worn in the bottom right hand corner. I also enjoy the make up of the bottom left hand corner. Perhaps I'll try it out and show the results? Let me know if you'd like to see my  lovely face, hehe.

Another trend I've been interested in is the longer coat trend (we all need coats, right? It is winter!) and I found a glorious one in the charity shop the other day (for a mere £5!!!), please look forward to a post featuring that. Interesting tights are another cool trend methinks. Anyway, let me know what you'd like to see featured on this blog~ I hope your 2014 is going well. I went out with my boyfriend and friend today - 'twas very fun and I'm very much looking forward to tomorrow!

Farewell for now,

Louise <3

(p.s. I don't own any of the images and find my tumblr here for the sources!)
